in a letter dated December 8, 2007...

I miss you, John. 27 years later, I still wish I could turn back the clock to the Summer of 1980. I remember everything - sharing our morning coffee, walking in the park together on a beautiful day, and seeing your hand stretched to mine - holding it, reassuring me that I shouldn't worry about anything because our life was good.

I had no idea that life was about to teach me the toughest lesson of all. I learned the intense pain of losing a loved one suddenly, without warning, and without having the time for a final hug and the chance to say, "I love you," for the last time. The pain and shock of that sudden loss is with me every moment of every day. When I touched John's side of our bed on the night of December 8th, 1980, I realized that it was still warm. That moment has haunted me for the past 27 years - and will stay with me forever.

Even harder for me is watching what was taken away from our beautiful boy, Sean.
He lives in silent anger over not having his Dad, whom he loved so much, around to share his life with. I know we are not alone. Our pain is one shared by many other families who are suffering as the victims of senseless violence. This pain has to stop.

Let's not waste the lives of those we have lost. Let's, together, make the world a place of love and joy and not a place of fear and anger. This day of John's passing has become more and more important for so many people around the world as the day to remember his message of Peace and Love and to do what each of us can to work on healing this planet we cherish.

Let's: Think Peace, Act Peace, and Spread Peace. John worked for it all his life.
He said, "there's no problem, only solutions." Remember, we are all together.
We can do it, we must. I love you!

the return of the je(blog)di

Yes, that's right, I went for a brief, two-week hiatus. And man, was the vacation nice! Sunny Florida, blustery Maine, marijuana-y Denver... I'm kidding. But not about the hiatus. It was never announced, but it was planned. Do not fear; Luke is here!

Probably the biggest thing of interest that happened in this time was Thanksgiving Break. And it wasn't all that interesting! Okay, so, my sister came home and I got to see her for the first time in months. That was cool. And Thanksgiving itself was cool. Probably the most enjoyable part of the break was just... that it was a break. And a crucially needed one, I do say so myself. And that was gay. But really. Breaks are cool. And of course, I can't wait for winter break.

So, last Tuesday, I organized a track team movie night to go see Beowulf, but it turned out I couldn't go so everyone went without me. Alas, the tears I cried that night were like no other before! But I heard that the flick was mediocre at best. And no, it is not a rip-off of 300-- the advertising may be, but it says naught about the actual movie. I digress.

It rained in track today. And rain is okay. Just not running in it for an hour or so, lying down in it, doing hills in it, etc. I guess I won't complain. I guess I'll just say that I hope for the better days in which we practice inside. Sure, it hurts your knees. But it's nice and warm; plus, there's that cozy "omg-indoor-track-is-so-fun" feeling." Yeah, you probably wouldn't know. And I'm getting faster, anyway. Whoo.

socio-literacy

States were a boatload of fun. Got to leave school early on Friday. Drove up with Josh's family to Norwood-Norfolk, way upstate near Potsdam. It's barely New York up there... French radio stations and Indian propaganda, and no real New York "feel." The course was very nice, with some "stinger" hills (one of the hills was called Stinger Hill). We stayed at a very nice hotel, with a public computer and lounge. Also, the hotel shared a parking lot with a huge casino; we didn't go. The race itself was cool, and our two runners did well. There were also a lot of hot girls there; most of them stared daggers at me. D:

Also, I went to the Eastview Mall on Saturday. Not much new there, just more hot girls and icy stares. I did get some clothes, though.

I also met the new distance coach for indoor at Dick's. He got a sub-30 minute 10,000 meters... pretty crazy. Seems like a nice guy and a nice addition to the team.

It was a three-day weekend, thus, a four-day week. I like it. My parents are once again going to Cleveland this weekend, leaving me behind. I kinda wanna see Beowulf. Rides, anyone?

zzzzzap

I feel like some pretty important/mildly interesting things happened in this previous week. I just can't remember them. Maybe a quick list will summarize my days.

Oh, yeah. I sprained my ankle on Monday afternoon. It was a minor sprain, but enough to be a bitch. But it's been getting better for the last week; by the end of this week I should be fine.

Also, it seems that Lansing sports teams are doing a lot of winning. Plz keep that up, bitches.

Josh did me the courtesy of invites me to tag along while he runs at XC States this Fri/Sat. Cool.

There was a dance this Saturday. It sucked at the beginning, then got mildly fun. Yeah.

I got my first Beatles bootleg (Beatleg, lol). Live! at the Star-Club... low quality, but great insight. Lots of fun, and hopefully not the last beatleg.

That's all, folks (I can't believe I haven't used that yet).

leave britney alone!

Seriously. Leave her alone.

I worked on the project for Macbeth this weekend. Basically, we had to act out 1-2 scenes. After filming and editing it together, it's pretty good. Granted, we all acted poorly, but it could've been much worse.

Also, this weekend, I organized my entire music library. Every artist, song, and album is neatly arranged in a folder. Ten bucks says my computer crashes in the next few days. Ten bucks says I won't care, though, because I backed up my files! Ten bucks says I lose the drive, though. D:

The Red Sox are kicking ass. I know no one cares about baseball, but I do. And, if things go well tonight, the series is theirs. But I have a feeling that ye olde Rockies will not give up so easily. Screw 'em... I'd like to see the Sox win in Boston anyway.

Cross country is almost over. I'd be running in Sexionals (yes, unorthodox spelling) this Thursday, but thanks to my gimpiness, I haven't run in enough meets to qualify. I've been invited to "tag along," but because I'm such a fag, I don't want to miss school. Seriously, though, I'm missing school Wednesday, so I don't want to miss more.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand-- XC finish. This means... indoor starts. Doubtless my hopes will fall short, I will run terribly, and the team will suck. But still... I am very excited. I've already started to lift (stop laffing plz), seeing as how we do it almost every day in indoor. But one of the reasons I'm excited is because it's actually fun-- cross country is fun in the sense of "omg good times," but I am not goodz at distance running. Indoor is like a fun house filled with nude babes, Lyle Lovett, and LSD.

Yeah, figure that one out.

happiness is a warm blog

My parents are gone for the weekend. They went to Cleveland to visit the sister in college. So I've been sitting around the house watching TV and being bored. No, I haven't looked at porn.

Also, I took the PSATs this weekend. They were dumb. Mildly challenging, but I just don't like the format of the test. Plus, the fact that College Board can pretty much do whatever the hell they want, seeing as how they and the ACT test are the only ones out there. But whatevs.

An hour or so ago I went out for a run. I was doing fine until I ran into (not literally) a group of four or five trashy kids that I have never seen before. They had some nice dogs, but they were just weird as hell. I tried to keep running, but I had the feeling that they were watching me the whole time, so I headed back. It's such a nice day; I'm pissed that those people ruined it for me.

It is a 3.5 day week this week-- yay. Check out the latest PbF comics. I haven't been posting them here, but they've all been pretty great.

FREE XXX HARDCORE

Sorry for the lack of updating. I honestly had the time to update last week, seeing as how we had a four-day weekend. I just didn't have anything exciting to say, and don't we all know that my blog is about 100% excitement.

I saw Across the Universe today. Finally. Fucking limited releases and whatnot held it back for a month until it finally reached anywhere near here. But, I shan't complain. Anyways, it was very good. There were a couple of superfluous musical numbers and some corny lines, but it was a visual, entertaining movie. Wafer thin plot, of course, but if you have a pretty wide suspension of disbelief, it's a great movie. Being a huge Beatles fan, it was an interesting experience. There were some faggy little kids sitting in front of me who talked. Also, there were some pedophiliac juniors there who will remain nameless.

Also, fall is a bitch. Seriously, rain and coldness? What the hell is this shit? Halloween and Thanksgiving? More like Gay-oween and Gaysgiving. Yeah.

I have homework to do, and interwebly stuff to look up. Sorry this wasn't as exciting as other stuff. Bye.
